Last Sunday I was given the chance to get my hands dirty in the design world. As we picked out images for a photo page on Railroad Days, I became interested in doing the layout myself. The bosses above me, Tom Martin and Steve Davis, we’re happy to give me the chance to put together the page.
It took some time to get used to the older version of InDesign, but it was an exciting trip back in to my days as Editor-in-Chief for The Knox Student. It might be a path I will travel down in the future, because it is a vital part of telling the story. Without a cohesive and exciting design for the news product, the story, both written and visual, are lost. Its a Tetris like challenge to get all the pieces in a page.
